Federal trade commision
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is an independent agency of the United States government, established in 1914 by the Federal Trade Commission Act. Its principal mission is the promotion of consumer protection and the elimination and prevention of what regulators perceive to be harmfully anti-competitive business practices, such as coercive monopoly, which is the main points in copyright and CC.

Creative Commons:a nonprofit organization that enables the sharing and use of creativity and knowledge through free legal tools.
intellectual property:(IP) refers to creations of the mind: inventions, literary and artistic works, and symbols, names, images, and designs used in commerce.
copyright: a form of protection grounded in the U.S. Constitution and granted by law for original works of authorship fixed in a tangible medium of expression. Copyright covers both published and unpublished works
public domain: generally defined as consisting of works that are either ineligible for copyright protection or with expired copyrights.
freeware: Freeware is software offered free of charge, downloadable off of the Internet.
shareware:lets you try a program for a period of time before you buy it. Once you have tried a shareware program, you know whether it will meet your needs before you pay for it.
open source: describes practices in production and development that promote access to the end product's source materials.
attribution: the requirement to acknowledge or credit the author of a work which is used or appears in another work.
commercial use: broad, covering more than just obvious 'profit- making' uses.
derivative: A security whose price is dependent upon or derived from one or more underlying assets.
share-alike: a descriptive term used in the Creative Commons project for copyright licenses which include certain copyleft provisions.
firewall: a set of related programs, located at a network gateway server, that protects the resources of a private network from users from other networks.
virus: a virus is a program or programming code that replicates by being copied or initiating its copying to another program, computer boot sector or document.
hacking: unauthorized use of computer and network resources.
piracy: Piracy is the unauthorized duplication of an original recording for commercial gain without the consent of the rights owner.
malware: Malware is the term used to describe malicious software.
phishing: a fraudulent attempt, usually made through email, to steal your personal information.
identity theft: Identity theft or id theft is a crime in which a criminal obtains key pieces of personal information.
data backup: making copies of data which may be used to restore the original after a data loss event.
cloud: Cloud computing is the delivery of computing as a service rather than a product, whereby shared resources, software, and information are provided to computers and other devices as a utility (like the electricity grid) over a network (typically the Internet).
cookies: A cookie, also known as an HTTP cookie, web cookie, or browser cookie, is used for an origin website to send state information to a user's browser and for the browser to return the state information to the origin site.

definition: A podcast is a multimedia file used for downloading to a portable media player.
They are used to download things to your portable devices like, videos, music, pictures and other things.

Emerging Technology: social index
Social index could be much more powerful because it also mines your friends' interests and collects information from multiple sites. As a result, the index can give websites a sense of what is likely to interest you even if you've never been there before. Facebook, and Myspace are examples of social index.
